After finishing her studies Kieranne spent two years teaching at a comprehensive school in London. Wanting to expand her language skills she took a position in Spain, with Berlitz International, a major provider of language tuition, translation services and intercultural training. While there she worked as an instructor, intercultural trainer and manager of instruction. As a learner of Spanish Kieranne was able to understand the joys and frustrations of studying a language as a beginner and to appreciate the value of learning where the language can be used every day in authentic situations.
When she returned to Ireland she consolidated her interest in applied linguistics with a post graduate diploma in TESOL at University College Dublin. Kieranne has been Director of Studies at Dorset College since 2012 and really enjoys the rewards and challenges of this vibrant multi-cultural environment.
John graduated from University College Dublin in English & Philosophy, and since then has worked in a variety of jobs, and also spent some time engaged in creative writing and visual art. He’s been teaching English in Dublin since 2000 – in Dorset College since 2010 – and in that period has taught classes at all levels, including business and exam classes.
John’s always been interested in music, movies, photography and creativity in general and has brought these interests to his work as a teacher. He’s recently started to help in the academic management of the school, working with teachers and students and gaining some administrative experience in the process.
As well as the other interests mentioned above, John is also interested in sport, cooking and travel.
Colm has a Degree and Masters in Psychoanalysis from Dublin Business School. He trained to be an English teacher at the Language Centre of Ireland. He has been teaching at Dorset College since 2007, and has taught on various courses including general English, Academic Writing Skills, IELTS preparation programmes and one to one English classes.
He has also spent time in Spain teaching English and training Spanish teachers in ELT. In addition to English Language teaching he also has experience instructing on courses in Child Psychology, Cultural Studies and Applied Communications.
Danielle McNicholl is an English Lanaguge Teacher delivering General English and exam preparation classes. After graduating from NUI Maynooth, Danielle started her career in education by spending a year teaching English in Australia. Finding that she really enjoyed the experience, she returned to Europe to continue her studies in the UK .
When she first returned to Ireland, Danielle specialised in providing language support in primary and secondary schools. During this time she built up a thorough understanding of the difficulties encountered by non-native speakers of English in an Irish context. Danielle brings this valuable experience to her current post at Dorset College where she teaches General English and exam preparation classes.
Brian graduated with a degree in European Studies from the University of Limerick and also has a Masters in Library and Information Studies from University College Dublin.
He first taught English in Egypt in 1995 and since then has also taught in Japan and Taiwan. He has been a teacher at Dorset College since 2011.
In his teaching career he has taught general English, business courses, exam preparation courses as well as courses for children of every age group. He has always devised his lessons with the belief learning should be enjoyable.
Since 2013, he has been coordinating the Dorset College library, which provides resources for both students of English and for the college’s HETAC and FETAC courses.
Odile is an Honours graduate of International Marketing and Languages. She gained a Postgraduate Degree in Education (PGCE) from Marjon University in Plymouth, UK and a Masters in Film Editing, Production and Direction from NUIG, Galway. She trained to teach English in GCI, Galway and has been working in Dorset College since 2012, teaching General English at all levels, Business English and IELTS.
She has also spent several years in Seville, Spain teaching Science and Mathematics through English to children in the renowned International School, San Francisco De Paula. Aside from her teaching experience Odile has spent several years working as a freelance Assistant Editor for film and television and has worked as Editor on several award-winning, festival screened, short films.
Sheena graduated from NUI Maynooth with a Bachelor Degree in English & History, and a Masters in English. She trained to be an English teacher at CES (Centre of English Studies) in Dublin.
Sheena has been teaching at Dorset College since2012, where she has taught General English classes at all levels. In addition, she has also taught on various other courses such as IELTS preparation, Academic Writing Skills, Professional Communications, and Business English.
Sheena has always had a keen interest in literature, theatre, film, and music and has incorporated these interests into her teaching and continuously strives to create a dynamic, enthusiastic, and positive learning environment for her students.
After finishing undergraduate studies in French and Spanish language and translation, Colleen worked as a property manager in immigrant communities in the suburbs of her native Washington, D.C. and taught English by night for over a decade.
A love for Ireland and the Irish language as well as a desire to teach full time brought her to Dublin where she did a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and extensive research on task-based learning and autonomous language acquisition with Irish-language learners in Trinity College.
She has been teaching English in Dublin for the last twelve years and has particularly enjoyed working with and learning from her wonderful Dorset students since 2010.
Brian holds a degree in English along with a Master's degree in history from University College Cork. In addition to this, he holds a certificate in CELTA.
He began teaching English in 2008 in Changwon, South Korea, where he was responsible for the creation and implementation of bespoke lesson plans. Brian joined Dorset College in 2012 and has been teaching here ever since.
Throughout his teaching career Brian has taught general English, business English, IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC.
He is also very active in the school's social programme and regularly leads tours to various sites of interest around Dublin.
Seánín has a degree in English from Queens University Belfast. She trained to be an English teacher at Alpha College, Dublin in 2006.
She began her career in Barcelona, Spain, teaching general and business English and since 2008 has been teaching at Dorset College. She has taught on various courses including General English, Academic Writing Skills, IELTS, FCE, TOEFL and EAP.
She has recently returned from living in Rio de Janeiro and speaks both Spanish and Portuguese. Seánín has taught literacy to vulnerable adults on a voluntary basis. She loves the Arts, enjoys singing and playing guitar and sports.
Mary has been teaching English at Dorset College since 2010. She trained to be an English teacher at the Dublin School of English. She has taught English at all levels, has prepared
students for IELTS and Cambridge exams, and has given one to one classes. She has taught both adults and teenagers from variety of countries.
Mary has lived in both Germany and Italy and as such understands the difficulties, frustrations and joy that students experience in both living in a foreign country and learning a second language. She has also learned to speak Spanish. She enjoys working in a multicultural environment and she has many interests including travel, photography, cooking and hillwalking.
Caroline is from the USA and holds a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Boston University, as well as Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Secondary English Education. She worked for many years as an English teacher and academic director in Boston. During this time she was also an IELTS examiner and gained valuable insight into helping students prepare for the IELTS exam.
Since coming to Ireland she has earned a CELT certificate from Dublin School of English and has been teaching General English and IELTS preparation. She has been at Dorset College since the summer of 2013. She enjoys getting to know students and learning about their languages and cultures. Her outside interests are literature, popular music, movies, good food and exploring new places.
Cormac graduated from the National University of Ireland with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Greek and Roman Civilisation with a minor in Music Study and Performance. He has been working at Dorset since March 2012 and has enjoyed teaching at all levels including English for Special Purposes and Business English. Cormac has experience working with children with special needs and comes from a family with strong educational ties.
Cormac has a strong interest in music, popular culture and history and incorporates these interests into his teaching methods.
Ronan Daly is an Honours graduate of English Literature and Philosophy from NUI Galway. In 2010, he gained a First Class Honours Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from NUI Galway and he taught English in the Galway Cultural Institute for three years. During this time he taught at all language levels to a multitude of nationalities and cultures in addition to gaining valuable experience in teaching Cambridge and IELTS exams.
In 2014, Ronan received an Honours Masters degree in writing and became the Cuirt International Literary Festival’s Slam Poetry Champion, performing on RTE radio and at the Electric Picnic Festival. In late 2014, Ronan joined the staff at Dorset College. Ronan is a prolific writer of fiction and non-fiction with great enthusiasm for the English language and performance, which he brings to his classroom experience.
Mary graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a B.A. in English Studies. During this period she developed an interest in the broad-ranging technical aspects of the language and how it has evolved over the last 600 years. Based on this interest she went on to train to be a TESOL teacher at Dublin School of English.
Mary has been working at Dorset College since 2009. She has worked with learners of all levels from beginner to advanced. She specially enjoys teaching beginners as they make such dramatic progress in spite of starting from a very low level.
Elaine Treacy has been an English teacher for over 10 years, she also teaches undergraduate Tourism Studies, Marketing and Business English. She has prepared students from around the world for FCE, CAE and IELTS. She has a Masters in Intercultural Studies and speaks fluent Italian and some Spanish and Portuguese .
She has taught in many schools in both Dublin, her native city and Rome, her second home. She has worked with many nationalities. Elaine is passionate about travelling, languages and culture. She sees teaching and learning English language as a means to breaking cultural barriers and improving world communication and co-operation.
