Test of English for International Communications (TOEIC)
A special afternoon course in preparation for the TOEIC examination is offered at Dorset College. This course can be taken in addition to the morning Standard course or as a separate course. This course is the perfect way to prove your level of English and provides an independent benchmark of English language proficiency for employers and others. TOEIC is administered in more than 60 countries world-wide with candidate numbers increasing by about 40% per annum.
More than 4.5 million people each year take the TOEIC tests to advance their careers. And, for more than 25 years, TOEIC test scores have helped thousands of corporations, educational institutions and governments throughout the world recruit, hire and promote the most qualified candidates.
Minimum Age Students must be 17 years of age.
Levels Intermediate to Advanced
Course Hours: (20 morning lessons per week, 45 minutes per lesson) Monday to Friday
Tuesday Wednesday & Thursday 14.30-16.30
(6 lessons per week, 55 minutes per lesson)

Course Fees: €50 per week (Minimum stay 4 weeks)
Examination Fees: The exam fee for 2009 is €130.
Class Size TOEIC Examination English language classes do not exceed
10 students and generally have 6-8 students

Format & Scoring:
The TOEIC test is comprised of 200 multiple choice questions as follows:
Listening:
(45 minutes); 100 questions of four types, including statements, questions, conversations and talks in real-life situations, for example recorded telephone conversations, travel announcements, meetings etc.

Reading:
(75 minutes); 100 questions taken from authentic situations such as, travel, meetings, entertainment, housing, etc. Each section is marked separately and then added up for an overall result, the final test score representing a level of proficiency in English as follows:
Novice: 10-250 Elementary 255-400
Intermediate: 405-600 Basic working proficiency 605-780
Working proficiency: 785-900 General proficiency 905-990
